Remixing bases

Remixing lets you build on someone else’s base without changing it, while keeping credit visible.

How it works

• On any base you can open, press Open in Builder or Remix. This creates a working copy in the builder; nothing is saved yet.
• When you save, the copy becomes your own base. It shows a “Remixed from” link to the original and its author.
• The original base is never changed. Its author keeps full control over it.

Remix tree

Every remix remembers its parent and the root base it ultimately came from. The remix tree on a base page shows how a layout spread and evolved, and the remix count on cards counts direct remixes.

Comparing with the original

The fork diff page compares a remix with the version it was copied from: which structures were added or removed and how the supply cost changed. Use it to see what someone improved before you remix their remix.

Good practice

• Remix instead of re-uploading. Re-uploading someone else’s base as new hides the original author.
• Describe what you changed in the version changelog.
• If the original uses an older data release, check the outdated-data warning; costs may have changed.
